Sally Soars To Number One

With Sally Fitzgibbons progressing to the quarter finals at the Swatch Women's Pro today she has moved to number one on the ASP rankings for the first time this year! Sally is up against South Africa's Bianca Buitendag in QF3 when the action resumes at Lower Trestles. Sally Fitzgibbons was a prodigious junior athlete in a number of sports including athletics, soccer, cross-country running and surfing. At age 17 she chose to concentrate on surfing and qualified for the 2009 ASP World Championship Tour. Sally was runner-up to the world title in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and has won several World Championship Tour events including the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach in 2011 and 2012, the 2011 US Open and 2012 Australian Open, the 2013 Roxy Pro France and the 2014 Billabong Rio Pro and Fiji Pro.
